Dear friends, dear families and dear all,

Look how beautiful it is, we are coming to the end of the work. There are still all the finishing touches, but for that, we need your help. Amazing work from the Fair Future Foundation and Kawan Baik Indonesia. Because yes, it is we who are there, in the field, who dig, who cook for the workers, for the community and the volunteers and who solve all the problems and provide the right solution each time.

We believe that, well, it’s still a pretty unique concept! It is also in this way that we can manage the works as well as possible, control the finances … By being there, all of us, on-site.

THE ROOF IS INGENIOUS BECAUSE IT ALLOWS THE RAINWATER TO BE COLLECTED AS WELL AS THE MORNING DEW. EVERYTHING IS THOUGHT OUT SO THAT THIS SCHOOL IS SELF-SUFFICIENT IN TERMS OF WATER, ELECTRICITY AND FOOD.

We are currently in the process of building the toilets because a school which will receive more than 80 children every day must have toilets. For this, we have created a small access path in natural stone, the ones we found around the school, some access steps and a small construction which will include two toilets. Again, the rinsing water will be provided by rain, dew etc …

The foundation thinks in the long term, this project is for us the beginning of other socio-medical-educational programs that we are developing from our future base camp of Waingapu. Healthy food and improved living conditions in these very rural communities are one of the foundation’s goals.

For example, we will shortly be able to start the garden that will allow the local community to grow vegetables … We will create it here in MbinuDita and it will be a pilot project for all the local communities that populate this area, the large island of Sumba. In fact, you should know that people here eat only boiled white rice, salt and chopped peppers in order to give their meagre meals a little flavour. People have no income, they are very poor you know.

Here we are, we still have things to do, time is running out. But imagine that this construction was carried out during this time of Pandemic, also imagine that on August 15, there was nothing here, just ruins! Imagine also and it is a touch of humour that sums up the following, that building this school here, it was for us like going to the Moon, a dream but nevertheless unimaginable and infeasible. But we did … We “went to the moon!” And what’s more, we’re working on it now!

To help us, to help them, you can make a donation here. Or make a bank donation to one of the two Swiss foundation accounts here by following this link. Thank you so much for your interest and benevolence for the #RebuildMbiuDita project Kawan’s.
