Hello Friends, dear friends, Ma’am, sir and dear family,

We talked about it a lot before the COVID-19 health crisis because it wasn’t the most urgent project. But everything changes in early March 2020, like all of you I know!

When we just made a big donation to the first step of reconstruction, the architect’s plan was completed and the kids were very happy to have a new school, the pandemic arrived and changed a lot of things… The same is for all of us.

So… We can’t go to Sumba or send building materials. Since everything is going a little better, from now on, therefore, we will be able to continue this project to complete it; and this is in excitement, great happiness because it can finally offer a new school for nearly 65 children aged 8 to 10 this year.

IMPORTANT SMALL SUMMARY:
On December 18, 2019, there was a storm in Mbinu Ndita, a village located in East Sumba. On its way, it was taken over the school built two years earlier by residents and teachers in the area for their children… Read more here!

We (Fair Future Foundation, Kawan Baik Indonesia and other good friends) will come a few days later and share our sadness and despair; they do not have the means to rebuild it. Together with children and teachers, we have been carrying out an educational project on photography for several months.

Without this school, they not only lose access to education but also the opportunity to develop projects like this. A few hours on site was enough for the Foundation to rebuild the school.

Sturdy walls and structures, a school is designed and adapted to the needs of children, teachers and surrounding villagers. Before the storm, the school consisted of two classrooms (first and second year), perched on a hill. Very simple structure with split bamboo walls, black sand floors and zinc roof.

There are no customized toilets, no lights, no access to drinking water, both in school and in the village, no electricity and the population is very poor.

So, after a few months of waiting, we are now working on this project again to carry it out and much more because this school will be the starting point for many social, educational, and medical activities in east Sumba region.

Building a new school also means improving the quality of school facilities, the foundation will improve safety, health and learning behaviors;
Offering new possibilities for sustainable learning programs, with new facilities, new schools, and new tools to take place there;
Develop the spirit of children to learn happily and safely in school thanks to the new school;
Provide access to adequate sanitation, water and electricity facilities in schools.

TOTAL PROJECT COST: CHF. 42.000.-
FUNDS ALREADY COLLECTED: CHF. 29.500.-
TO START THE CONSTRUCTION PHASE, THEREFORE WE LOST CHF. 12.500.-.
THIS IS WHY WE ARE CALLING YOU TODAY TO ALLOW US TO DO THIS PROJECT.

We were forced to postpone the project as you understand it… But also and in relation to the health emergency and economic crisis currently engulfing residents and communities here in Indonesia, we have “withdrew” from our financial reserves to respond as best we can to today’s emergencies. As much as we do, we have achieved the ability to offer food, sanitary supplies and psychological and financial support to thousands of people affected.

Thank you so much Friends for your interest, help and kindness.
