Dear Madam, dear sir, dear friends, and family,

Waingapu is the center of various activities in East Sumba Regency.

This is where people live and support themselves and their families daily. This is also where the impact of COVID-19 is most felt for the people of East Sumba.

Jobs that have to be stopped because of Covid threaten many households, especially in the tourism sector. Many people in East Sumba depend on the pulse of global tourism. However, everything stalled in early March 2020.

In addition, farmers are also not in the safe zone because the attack of locusts hampers the harvest of gardens and fields. Since then, the scarce resources cultivated by these people have shrunk.

The elderly and disabled are also at the centre of this problem. Although the government already has a special small assistance program for those affected by Covid-19, there are still thousands of people who need help, but are desperate to receive nothing, nothing at all!

Did you know, for a long time Kawan Baik Indonesia has taken concrete and effective steps to be able to help as many people as possible. Here in Sumba, but also elsewhere in Indonesia! We provide help, smiles, love, and vital items… It means items necessary for life, survival, in particular and among others personal hygiene products, sanitary pads, vitamins. As with anywhere in Indonesia, you obviously have to always wear a mask and wash your hands and in this case, we also offer hundreds of masks, disinfectant solutions…

“Goodies Bags” offered by thousands of foundations since March 2020 consists of food products such as rice, sugar, cooking oil, dried fish, cereals and snacks, eggs, masks, soaps, sanitary pads and toothbrushes, and toothpaste.

Just like other Foundation activities, all items that have been purchased, weighed and packed with our volunteers (Sumba Volunteers, Sumba Children’s Light, and Anugerah Anak Sumba) and various other communities in East Sumba. We would like to thank them wholeheartedly for their valuable collaboration, time, and incredible communicative energy! So, let’s change everything together.

If you would like to support our activities in Sumba, we recommend that you click here at this link. Send a love of light and see you in Sumba kawans!
