The ongoing construction and repair work on the road to Laindatang village in East Sumba has been a monumental undertaking, made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Fair Future and Kawan Baik Foundations. We are deeply grateful for the steadfast support of the dedicated villagers who have generously contributed their time and efforts to this project.
The joint endeavors of Fair Future and Kawan Baik Foundations have played a crucial role in revitalizing access to Laindatang village. The unwavering commitment of individuals such as Elthon, Ino, Alex, Primus, and the villagers has been remarkable. They have tirelessly worked to excavate earth, break rocks, and move mountains of dust to create a safer passage.
The determination displayed in the #WaterConnections project, coupled with the unwavering resolve to enhance village accessibility, has resulted in the triumphant arrival of material trucks at the project site despite the initial challenges.
The mobilization of the villagers has played a pivotal role in this achievement, and we express our heartfelt gratitude to those residents who have generously invested their time, energy, and resources to turn this vision into reality. Thanks to their courage and determination, the path to the village is now safer and more accessible, greatly benefiting the numerous families residing in Laindatang – Mbatakapidu, Sumba Timur.
Over nearly a year, under the guidance of Alex, the Fair Future Foundation has consistently advocated for the authorities of East Sumba to fulfill their responsibilities and honor their commitments. Through modern communication channels, including social media, we have presented our case comprehensively and pushed for substantial actions. This ongoing dialogue and unwavering determination have ultimately led to the support and aid extended by the Bupati of Sumba Timur, marking a significant breakthrough.
With the completion of this new road, our teams can now facilitate the transportation of more extensive equipment, such as 5,000-liter tankers, to deliver water to households in the village.
More than just a physical pathway, this road represents a symbolic bridge leading to an improved future. It embodies the core values of our foundations and contributes to the overall health and well-being of the community through strategic initiatives.
