Background

Kawan Baik Indonesia Foundation, Fair Future Foundation and Rumah Sanur Creative have collaborated during the COVID-19 Community Care #kawanbaikbagi pandemic since early March 2020 to provide supplies of healthy food, vitamins, masks and hand sanitizers for the community in Bali.

On April 3, 2020, the Regional Government issued a regulation paving the way for the Restriction of Community Activities (PKM), which is equivalent to the closure of part of the island or PSBB on a national scale. This special moment requires offices, schools, markets, places of worship and public spaces to be closed. Practically the majority of activities outside the home are eliminated but the recommendation to work from home or Work from Home (WFH) cannot be applied in several economic sectors and requires some people to continue to do activities outside the home.

Measures to suppress the spread of the virus that were carried out based on public awareness and the level of compliance with government advice were able to reduce the rate of virus spread in Bali. After 3 months of implementing PKM, pushing back to a normal transition period in order to meet the needs of clothing and food. Fakta yang dihadapkan adalah ketika masyarakat melakukan kegiatan di luar rumah, mereka mengenakan masker wajah, handsanitizer atau mencuci tangan dan menjaga jarak yang aman satu sama lain. The new policy allows all businesses, including warungs, restaurants, malls, traditional markets and grocery stores, to continue to operate and other social activities to continue as normal.

Kawan Baik Indonesia takes on the role of a social foundation, continuing in social responses to assist the Government in meeting the needs of food and health equipment to prevent the transmission of the virus. Another role is to assist and encourage people to return to their activities and fulfill their primary needs during the pandemic. Collaborating with Kunang Jewelry and ToKo Concept Store to involve the community of vulnerable groups in Denpasar Women’s Prison to participate in sewing masks which will later be used to fill Goodie Bags aided by COVID-19 Community Care Chapter III Kawan Baik Berbagi.

Goal

  1. Involving and assisting vulnerable community groups in Denpasar Women’s Prison to participate in making Coronavirus prevention equipment in the form of layered cloth masks that are safe and comfortable to use during activities,
  2. Fulfilling the primary needs of nutritious, nutritious food and body supplements that are important to be consumed during the Corona pandemic for people in Bali and Sumba,
  3. Provide assistance to vulnerable communities in Bali in the form of primary and special needs according to their needs while at the community home,
  4. Provide health equipment used by the community while returning to normal activities outside the home using masks and armed with hand sanitizer,
  5. Provide job opportunities as assistants and volunteers who want to participate in social activities #KawanBaikBerbagi,
  6. Provide job opportunities for catering / stalls that operate normally to provide food for volunteers,
  7. Support the local economy by buying basic necessities, vegetables and other micro businesses to be able to continue business activities (supplying the needs of #KawanBaikBerbagi).

Output

  1. Vulnerable communities in Denpasar Women’s Prison are involved in overcoming the Coronavirus pandemic by producing safe and comfortable masks,
  2. Vulnerable communities in Denpasar Women’s Prison receive income from the production of masks, this income supports the fulfillment of needs while in prison,
  3. The assistance provided by Kawan Baik Indonesia and collaborators Kunang Jewelry and ToKo Concept Store resulted in masks that were neat and comfortable to wear during activities. The added value taught is about the quality produced and time management,
  4. Motivating the community to adjust their rhythm to return to normal activities with health standards while participating in social volunteer activities to help prepare Goodie Bags #KawanBaikBerbagi,
  5. Supplying healthy basic necessities, cleaning equipment and sanitary napkins as well as free supplies (masks and hand sanitizer) that can meet needs during a crisis to communities in need and vulnerable groups in Bali and Sumba.
