Tentang Proyek

Kawan Against Malaria - Malaria Spread Studies Umalulu is an initiative to address and prevent the spread of malaria in Umalulu Village, Umalulu Subdistrict, East Sumba Regency. This program focuses on data collection, community education, and the development of community-based malaria prevention strategies.

Why Does Malaria in Umalulu Need Attention?

  • High Malaria Incidence: In 2024, there were 2,184 malaria cases in East Sumba., with 585 cases came from Umalulu District.
  • Lack of Data and Mapping: No official data exists on malaria prevalence and the environmental factors contributing to its spread.
  • Limited Access to Healthcare: Villagers face challenges in accessing healthcare facilities and malaria treatment.
  • Low Community Awareness: Education on Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is still limited.

The lack of clean water also compromises hygiene and increases the risk of waterborne diseases. Contaminated water sources expose families to diarrhea, skin infections, and other preventable illnesses, further weakening an already vulnerable community. Without intervention, this cycle of poverty, poor health, and limited opportunities will continue.
