Our Action

Everyday view in Hambarita, families endure a grueling journey, carrying 20-30kgs jerrycans for 2-3 hours to access water down the hills. This daily struggle impacts their health and livelihoods, trapping them in a cycle of hardship. Parents, burdened by this daily task, have less time to work, care for their children, or improve their livelihoods.

The lack of clean water also compromises hygiene and increases the risk of waterborne diseases. Contaminated water sources expose families to diarrhea, skin infections, and other preventable illnesses, further weakening an already vulnerable community. Without intervention, this cycle of poverty, poor health, and limited opportunities will continue.

To address this urgent issue, Kawan Baik Indonesia is implementing a sustainable water solution:

Installing Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) Systems to collect and store rainwater efficiently.

Integrating Filtration Units to ensure the water is safe for daily use and consumption.

Building a 5,000-liter Ferrocement Reservoir for communal access, ensuring a reliable water source year-round.

This initiative will directly benefit dozens of families, providing them with safe, accessible water and reducing their dependence on costly and unreliable tanker water. With clean water readily available, families can focus on work, and overall community health will improve.
